After working as a Family Practitioner in South Africa he moved to the United States in 1989. He completed his Residency Training at the Penn State University Hershey S Medical Center and then Clinical and Research Nephrology Fellowship Training at Massachusetts General Hospital.
He is a Physician at Mass General and is the Clinical Director of Nephrology. He has served as a Trustee on the Mass General Physician Organization Board, and has many leadership roles within the Mass General clinical care arena including Nephrology Quality Director and former Co- Chair of the Department of Medicine Clinical Practice Council. He is a Member and Co-Chair of the Partners Healthcare Chronic Kidney Disease Collaborative.
His special interests are the development and implementation of Renal Disease Management Models of care and outcome improvement in this context.
